Haiti is known for its rich folklore traditions. The country has many magical tales that are part of the Haitian Vodou tradition. The Haitian man Papa Doc was a strong believer in the country's folklore and used elements of it to guide a specifif group of haitians during the Duvalier dynasty.

 Some Haitians believed that they are  Latino by definition because the term Latino “refers to those who are from or have a background in a Latin American country.” Haitian Dominicans are also Hispanic because the term Hispanic “refers to individuals who are Spanish-speaking or have a background in a Spanish-speaking country.” Being first- While others believe they are just black caribbean people.

Haiti is more Caribbean in terms of its history and identity, but a lot of Haitians do speak Spanish. In fact, many speak several languages. They speak indigenous Creole, which is French mix, and they may speak French and Spanish, or even English fluently.

It is believed that Haitians had created the first independent nation in the Caribbean. (The others were colonized, or ruled, by countries like Spain and France.) Haiti was also the second democracy in the Western Hemisphere (after the United States).
